More information about the White Pinwheel jumpsuit that Elvis wore in 1971-1972.
One of the three "pinwheel" suits Elvis had.
The other two are; Black Pinwheel and Red Pinwheel
This is the only one of the three that had an original belt made. Later (in 1972) Elvis would wear the belt with the Eyelet suit.
Elvis wore this suit also during his Las Vegas stand. This was one of the jumpsuits Elvis wore during the filming of the 1972 documentary "Elvis On Tour".
👑 Elvis Presley’s White Pinwheel Jumpsuit: A Royal Statement in Rhinestones and Glory
When Elvis Presley stepped onstage in the early 1970s, he didn’t merely perform — he arrived like a force of nature. Among his most iconic looks from this glittering Las Vegas era was the White Pinwheel Jumpsuit, complete with a custom-designed flowing white cape, both shimmering under stage lights like a burst of pure Presley charisma.
⸻
🎙️ Designed for the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll
The White Pinwheel Jumpsuit was created by Bill Belew, the mastermind behind many of Elvis’ most unforgettable stage outfits. It debuted in 1971, during Elvis’s explosive live performances at the Las Vegas Hilton, and was an instant sensation.
The design is named after the pinwheel-shaped embroidery pattern that adorned the front, back, and sleeves of the suit — a dazzling arrangement of gold, red, and silver rhinestones meticulously set to mimic the spinning motion of a pinwheel. It caught the light with every move, enhancing the drama of Elvis’s trademark karate kicks and half-moon pivots.
⸻
🦅 The Cape: A Showman’s Wings
What truly elevated this jumpsuit into icon status was the custom white cape, fastened at the shoulders and lined with matching rhinestones.
When Elvis raised his arms and turned to face the crowd, the cape flared out like wings — not unlike a superhero, or dare I say, a rock ‘n’ roll Batman.
The cape was symbolic of his stage power—a nod to the majesty of his presence and the theatricality that defined his live performances. Sometimes he’d even throw the cape into the audience as a gift, sending fans into an ecstatic frenzy.
⸻
📸 Immortalized in Imagery
Photographs of Elvis in the White Pinwheel Jumpsuit remain among the most beloved in the King’s fashion archive. His slicked-back hair, high collar, and confident stance completed the image of a man who knew exactly who he was: a rebel, a gentleman, and above all, a legend.
Whether captured mid-song with sweat glistening on his brow, or mid-spin with cape unfurled behind him, Elvis in the Pinwheel Jumpsuit is the epitome of the king of rock royalty.

🎵 The Legacy of the Look
Today, the White Pinwheel ensemble is preserved as a sacred relic of rock history, often replicated by tribute artists and cherished by collectors. It’s a symbol of Elvis’s final years — when his music, presence, and wardrobe reached mythic proportions.
It wasn’t just stagewear. It was a suit of sonic armor, fashioned for the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll to conquer hearts, one rhinestone at a time.
